How to Apply


Our program's academic calendar runs from July to June of each year. Applications to the residency program are accepted exclusively through the Electronic Resident Application Service (ERAS).  For the 2026 / 2027 ERAS cycle, our program will be participating in the supplemental ERAS application offered through the AAMC's ERAS program.  The additional information collected helps our program staff learn more about an applicant's medical journey, including more meaningful information about work, volunteer, and research experiences, and will help us better identify applicants who fit our program environment and mission. Our program will conduct both in-person and virtual interviews this cycle. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), which occurs in March of each year. Recruited residents can expect to begin their Orientation into residency during the last week of June.

The NRMP asks that we provide the following to applicants:

Minimum Criteria


  • Graduation from LCME or AOA school with:

    • USMLE Steps 1 and 2 scores 200 or above with no more than two attempts on Step 2; Passing on Step 2 Clinical Skills

    • COMLEX Steps 1 and 2 450 or above with no more than two attempts on Step 2; Passing on COMLEX 2 Clinical Skills

    • Will consider application for students with Step 2 scores pending

  • International graduates must have ECFMG certificate, and have passed USMLE, as above, along with Step 3 at 200 or above, and have US clinical experience.

  • International medical graduate candidates who require J-1 visa sponsorship will be considered

  • Graduation from medical school must be within the last 5 years.

  • All residents must qualify for employment with Baptist Memorial Health Care.  Some requirements for employment include a negative drug screen, clear criminal background check and the ability to participate in federal healthcare programs
